The visual assessment tool was created by Worcester Roots and Regional Environmental Council to assess potential hazards in and around homes in Worcester, MA with a focus on lead (Pb). In Spring 2011, it was expanded to include information about weatherization and other healthy home issues with the involvement of the Worcester Energy Barn Raisers and other members of the Worcester Green and Healthy Homes Collaborative.
Visual assessments help identify high-risk areas in terms of risk of lead poisoning and other hazards. Data collected in the visual assessments will be used to create maps that indicate Worcester’s high risk neighborhoods. The visual assessments will serve the purpose of identifying neighborhoods and houses in need of lead remediation and other resources available to make the house green and healthy.
