TSB Youth Filmmakers Win National Awards

Worcester Roots Project's youth team, Toxic Soil Busters Co-op, went to Boston on Sept. 23 to receive a national award. The Toxic Soil Busters Co-op created a 5 minute documentary film, “A Worcester EJ Story,” about one of the youth founders of Toxic Soil Busters. This award is accompanied by a $500 cash award, which will be invested back into the project to make more documentaries about environmental justice in Worcester.

In Her Own Words

By Patricia Feraud, Co-op Business Coordinator of Toxic Soil Busters / Co-Treasurer of Worcester Roots Project
Life in Worcester never been easy for my family, my mother had to work two jobs to support us…
Joining Toxic Soil Busters (TSB) was one of the best decisions I made as a youth because TSB allowed me to create a positive footprint in the real world…
Worcester Roots is not just another job and I am not just another employee; they are a life style and I feel like it is another extension to my family. We as a team worked on my yard to make it safe for my younger siblings.

Green Jobs Advocacy

Through the coordination of the Worcester Green Jobs Coalition and participation in numerous collaboratives for green jobs statewide and nationally, Worcester Roots is leading the way for Green Jobs Development in Worcester and beyond.

Soil Testing and Lead-Safe Landscaping
